Emerson Common, established in 2019, is a multigenerational cohousing community located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, 15 minutes to Charlottesville — a small city with plenty of dining, music, cultural and employment opportunities — named America's happiest city by the US National Bureau of Economic Research.
We build relationships through neighborhood self-management, twice-weekly common meals, regular social events, and much front porch hanging out. Members range in age from two to 80, with a balanced distribution of ages and stages of life. Neighbors participate in community work, attending monthly plenary meetings and joining the department circles of their choice. Within walking distance from our neighborhood is a grocery store, brewery, and restaurants. Crozet has multiple parks with walking trails, playgrounds and lakes. |
